Victorian Architecture in Reading

A booklet by the late architect Godwin Arnold published for Reading Civic Society in 1976 is a good review of the buildings erected in the Victorian era.  Whilst it laments the loss of many good buildings at a time when the town was “trying to destroy itself” many still remain. The tone does not pull its punches and does not suggest all the works by great architects, such as Waterhouse, were great.  An interesting and useful digest.  To read it go to  Victorian Architecture in Reading
