Reading Museum and the Abbey Quarter

Added 9 April  2018

On 7th April  we were delighted that Matthew Williams, Reading’s Museum Manager, was able to come to our AGM to talk to members about Reading under a heritage banner.  His talk Back to the Future – Reading’s Heritage and Reading’s Future highlighted the importance of heritage in shaping the future of Reading “you have to know where you have come from to help you shape where you are going”.

Significant improvements had been made to the Museum website. We thought it might be helpful to members to have some signposts here:

The general museum site is: Reading Museum

The Abbey Quarter site is: Reading Abbey Quarter

The restored Abbey Ruins will re-open on 16 June 2018.

The Abbey Gateway will be open for special tours; 14 April, 21 April, 23 June &18 August.  They may be booked though the special booking page in “What’s on Now”  www.readingabbeyquarter.org.uk/abbey/whats-on
